Red Bull Music Academy 2009 – my Tracks

This post operates on 2 levels – 1 of which requires your help!

First off a bit of background for thee… Red Bull Music Academy is a super cool event held in different parts of the world every year, pulling in folk from across the globe in all areas of music – to basially hang out for a week with wicked cool people, wicked cool equipment, and jam! If I could only do one thing for the rest of my life – i’d be pretty happy doing just this I reckon. The deal is you submit this EPIC application form telling the Red Bull chaps all about yo bad self’ – and you also submit a CD with half hour or so worth of your tunes, which leads me onto how you can help me!

Below are 12 tracks I have scraped together (in varying degrees of quality, genre and seriousness!). Each track has a bit of info on it, If you have some time would you be so kind as to have a listen to as many as possible and give me some feedback on it all? Ideally I think I need to cut it down a bit, but It would also be good to hear what you think about the song choices, song order, appropriateness… anything really!

Half the Man by Naomi Hates Humans – This is the first track off our upcoming EP. On this track I am on Bass guitar duities.

A2 by Tea with the Queen – This is a track off our debut EP1. We did a music video for it here . On this track I am on Guitar duties.

SGN01 (intermission) by Grim Piñata – This is a short piece of electronic-based music of which currently has no home. I dun all of this, mostly on my phone. (btw Grim Piñata is my electronic pseudonym)

Grimm Mix by Grim Piñata – This track warrants the most explanation… this is about 4-5 different electronic tracks I have roughly mixed together to give a general overview of this Grim Piñata project. Its a bit haphazard, but I like it that way. Beat Match? pah. I made all of this as Grim Piñata.

Eugene Bend by Koheu – This is a track myself and good friend Will Goldstone composed remotely from across the coutry – He’d send me a Bass line, i’d send him back drum parts. Good fun. On this track I am on Drums and Synth, we shared production duties!

Drama queen (intermission) by Grim Piñata – a short classical refrain, creepy and unusual – think I had been watching allot of LOST. All parts arranged in Garageband by myself.

Outrageous French by Tea with the Queen – This is a track off our debut EP1. This is my personal favourite of the bunch. On this track I am on Guitar duties.

SGN02 (intermission) by Grim Piñata – Another short intermission piece.

Sea Wench by Koheu – Another track composed with Will Goldstone. On this track I am on Drums and Synth and shared production duties again!

Somethings are worth getting your heart broken for by Naomi Hates Humans – This is the last track off our upcoming EP. this is my second fav of the bunch. On this track I am on Bass guitar duties.

Runaway (Bon Jovi Cover) by Night Dragon and Pocket Kitten – This is what happens when your drummer doesnt turn up to a practice… myself and Naomi being very silly doing a very silly cover of a very silly Bon Jovi song. Keep an ear out for the best guitar solo you have ever heard. On this track I am on Guitar and production duties.

SGN01 (Conclusions) by Grim Piñata – This is a slightly longer, chirpier electronic piece, with a bit of guitar for good measure! this track was composed mostly on my phone, guitar added later.
